KIOXIA Group’s Environmental Policy

KIOXIA Group works to create value and to preserve and enhance the environment through its business activities. Our aim is to contribute to a sustainable society and to help pass on a healthy global environment to future generations.

KIOXIA Group considers environmental action to be one of its highest management priorities. We comply with environmental laws and regulations and international treaties, prevent pollution, provide memory and related products that support information infrastructure, and work to reduce environmental impact across the entire value chain in line with our environmental targets. We also take systematic steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions during manufacturing in accordance with international frameworks, while continually improving our environmental management system through audits and reviews of our activities and promoting its effective operation.

 

1. We strive to reduce the environmental impact of society by developing memory and related products with greater capacity, smaller size, and lower power consumption, appropriately managing raw materials and reducing their use, assessing the chemical substances contained in our products, and providing those products to society.
2. As part of efforts to address climate change and help achieve a decarbonized society, we are working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Initiatives include the development of energy-saving technologies, productivity improvements, energy-saving measures focused on power systems and manufacturing machinery, and consideration of the introduction of clean energy. Through these efforts, we aim to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
3. We actively promote resource circulation and waste reduction in support of the transition to a circular economy. Specifically, we focus on improving productivity and developing resource-saving technologies. We also promote water conservation, make careful use of water resources around our plant sites, and return water used in production to the environment after appropriate treatment.
4. We limit environmental risk associated with chemical substances by managing the chemicals we use and developing technologies to reduce the use of certain chemicals. We also implement measures to reduce the amounts handled and released into the environment, and take steps to prevent pollution.
5. To conserve biodiversity, we assess the dependencies and impacts of our business activities on biodiversity and strive to reduce those impacts. We also promote related social contribution activities.
6. We disclose information related to our memory and related products, including energy-saving technologies and initiatives to reduce environmental impact, and work in cooperation with local communities and society at large to promote mutual understanding with our stakeholders.
7. We work to raise environmental awareness throughout the organization and carry out activities with consideration for environmental preservation across KIOXIA Group.

We make this Environmental Policy available both internally and externally, ensuring that all KIOXIA Group employees are aware of it and  by pursuing corporate activities in line with the policy.
